High Performance Should Extend Beyond the Profession.
We tend to define high performance by what we can see—achievement, growth, productivity, revenue, promotions, and results. But someone can succeed professionally while their health, relationships, identity, or life outside of work quietly absorbs the cost.
Anvil Concepts was built around a broader definition. We call it Whole-Person Performance: developing the person behind the performance so success can be sustained across the areas of life that matter most because there is no separate version of you that goes to work. How you manage stress, relationships, health, identity, emotion, and purpose influences how you think, communicate, make decisions, handle pressure, and perform.
The goal isn't simply to accomplish more. It's to become more capable.

Built From Experience. Deepened Through Understanding.
John T. Schluter, M.A., spent nearly 15 years serving in the Navy SEAL teams, including multiple combat deployments around the world. His time in special operations provided firsthand experience with teamwork, adversity, responsibility, and sustained performance in some of the world's most demanding environments.
It also showed him another side of achievement: what can happen when succeeding in one area of life consistently takes priority over everything else.
After his military career, John turned his attention toward understanding the human being behind the performance. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from New York University, became a Certified Professional Coach, and continued developing his work at the intersection of psychology, human performance, and leadership.
Today, that combination of lived experience and professional education shapes the way John works with high-performing individuals and organizations nationwide.

Develop the Person Behind the Performance
Because everything is connected.
Your career doesn't exist independently from your relationships. Your ability to focus isn't disconnected from your health. Emotional regulation affects communication. Identity influences decisions. Purpose affects what you're willing to endure and for how long.
Anvil Concepts takes a whole-person approach to human performance, looking beyond professional output to the interconnected factors that influence someone's ability to perform sustainably. Depending on the individual or organization, that work may include professional performance, relationships, communication, emotional regulation, resilience, health, identity, decision-making, purpose, and personal responsibility.
This isn't about becoming less ambitious.
It's about becoming more capable of carrying your ambition well.
Why the Anvil?
An anvil doesn't do the shaping for you.
It provides something strong enough and steady enough to shape against.
That philosophy sits at the heart of Anvil Concepts. Whether working privately with a high-performing individual or partnering with an organization, John's role isn't to hand someone a predetermined version of who they should become. It's to help them honestly assess where they are, understand what's standing
between them and where they want to go, and build a practical path forward.
Through Private Advisory, Organizational Human Performance, Leadership Development, and Speaking & Workshops, Anvil Concepts helps individuals and organizations pursue success that can be sustained, not simply professionally, but across the entirety of the life being built around it.
What is your current level of performance costing you and is that cost intentional?
